The DoNation Platform is a space to approach people who wish to make certain campaigns financially viable. Here noble initiatives to make the society a better place come true through direct collaboration and trust among those who identify with them. 

We, at DoNation Platform, are working daily to create and maintain the simple, fast and the most comfortable environment possible for the whole community of fundraisers as well as donors. Therefore, before supporting or publishing a campaign, it is fundamental to understand how the platform works, what are the responsibilities of campaign organizer and what are the dynamics involved so that this platform becomes beneficial for everyone!

 

The basics

DoNation Platform is for crowdfunding!

The crowdfunding has come about so that people can take part in a noble cause just by sending an SMS to make a fundraising campaign successful collectively.

DoNation Platform does not curate

We do not pretend to centralize the judgment of what can or can not be made viable. We believe there is nothing better than the very people who use DoNation Platform every day to validate whether an idea is good enough to go ahead and succeed in catching. Therefore, this validation is in the hands of supporters when choosing to support a project or not. We believe in self-management and freedom of interaction between people and we encourage DoNation Platform users to use the reporting mechanism if they understand that any Catestar-listed project is not covered by our Design Guidelines  or our Terms of Use .

The dynamic is collective

DoNation Platform is independent, and love-free. Our passion is to build an environment where more and more projects can come to life. For us, mediating the financing of projects means creating a propitious and secure environment for people to connect with their ideals and to realize common desires . For everything to work out, it is important for us all to be clear about our role and responsibilities within this ecosystem:

The role of cause-creator

When publishing a project on the DoNation Platform, the campaign organizer is responsible (including legally) for the content displayed on the campaign page as well as the veracity of the data/text and for the commitments and timelines related to the campaign. 

To avoid any kind of problem, we recommend the following practices:

Know all the rules

By submitting a campaign to the DoNation Platform, you must be sure that all project content is within the Project Guidelines and our Terms of Use and that no rights are being violated.

Make sure your proposal is feasible

We know that it is often difficult to accurately predict the progress of a project that does not yet exist. Still, before you put your campaign on the air, you should make every effort to ensure that it is feasible, that the mode chosen (all-or-nothing or flex) is adequate and that the calculated budget is sufficient to execute the proposal, produce the rewards and deliver them on time . So, do not promise impossible deadlines, find out about the actual costs, meet your suppliers and get ahead to avoid possible unforeseen circumstances .

Communicate with supporters. EVER!

By choosing to fund a project collectively, you are making a public commitment to all of your supporters and making a goal that was once individual on a shared goal. The director is the custodian and responsible for the money raised and for the execution of a common project. Still, supporters are part of that accomplishment and therefore deserve and should always be updated by you throughout the process. To communicate with supporters, you can use the News , the personal contacts provided in the Support Report or the Rewards Manager. In addition, it is critical that you keep your data up-to-date so that your supporters and / or DoNation Platform staff can contact you if necessary.   

If a supporter seeks direct contact with you through other means of communication other than those provided by the platform, we recommend that you respond promptly, and even request that he contact you through the tools provided by DoNation Platform. If a director fails to respond to calls from supporters, he runs the risk of losing credibility and is likely to find it more difficult to raise funds for this project and for future projects, as well as being subject to the consequences set forth in the  Terms of Use  and Policy. The role of supporters

A project will only be funded if people decide to collaborate. When making a payment, the sponsor is giving, in addition to a cash value, a vote of confidence to the proposal presented by the director.

Can any project delay or go wrong? Yes . As in any situation where you are believing in a proposal that has not yet come to fruition, many unforeseen issues may appear halfway, from delays in delivering rewards to noncompliance with promises from a director. DoNation Platform provides information and tools to minimize possible problems but, like the supporters, we can  not predict or avoid all adversities.  That’s why we’ve listed a few practices for you to be more secure and your experience of supporting a project is incredible.

Explore the project as much as possible

The project page has been created so the director can post what he considers relevant to the proposal. We recommend that the supporter explore this information as closely as possible by carefully reading the description, watching the video (if any), checking if the budget and the rewards make sense by reading the submissions and comments from other users.

Find out who is behind the project

If you still do not know the person (or group) responsible for the project, we encourage you to seek out more information before making any support . For this, we recommend that you access the content and links made available in the user profile, check the social media, Comments tab and other search tools. In these searches, seek to know better the director’s career and the community that has been endorsing his work.

Questions about the project? Question!

Through the project page you can get in touch, at any time, with the campaign director. You can use this channel to ask any questions, be it about the proposal or about the development of the project and the delivery of the rewards. This can be done privately, through the Send Message or publicly, through Comments.

Keep your data up to date

The contact information that the supporters provide during the moment of support is passed on to the supported project director. They will be used, both by the DoNation Platform and the Director, as a basis for communication and rewards delivery (if applicable). It is the responsibility of the sponsor to keep this data updated and, if there is a change in address, to maintain the director.

Our team is motivated by creating innovative, secure and stable mechanisms that aim to facilitate interaction and communication between supporters and filmmakers. And we are always attentive to ensure the proper functioning of all the tools that we develop and to solve any problem or doubt related to the usability of the platform .

Create and disseminate educational materials

We know that as a relatively new dynamic, many filmmakers still face challenges in planning their campaigns and project management. To help people overcome these challenges, we constantly seek to disseminate methodologies, good practices and experiences of the Community itself that uses Catharsis.

Listen and help whenever possible

We are not responsible for executing a project , but it is our commitment to offer a variety of channels and tools so that users can contact each other or us to report any irregularities (or suspicions) in projects they are capturing on the platform. We are committed to evaluating each request and, within our competencies , to decide on the best course of action for each case. Learn more about our complaint mechanisms and dispute resolution .

Ensuring Data Privacy

We respect your right to privacy, therefore, we do not provide any personal information from project supporters and project managers to third parties, except in case of a court order or suspected fraud or non-compliance with the Terms of Use. credit card data, are stored in a secure location, on the DoNation Platform servers or on the payment medium servers. Learn more about DoNation Platform’s privacy policy.
